Car Not Starting & Service Traction/Service Esc Errors After Replacing Stock Radio
Hey all!
I ran into an odd issue yesterday and am stuck with my 09 HHR LT not starting. I had a nice aftermarket radio installed and just sold it. While waiting for my new radio to come in the mail, I took out the sold one and replaced it with the factory stereo. I took out the GMS harness to adapt the new stereo and connected all the factory harnesses back to where they were originally.
After installing it, the car will not start and throws the Service Traction and Service ESC error and flickers when trying to start. I checked and double checked all my wiring to make sure I did not miss anything, and they are fine. As well, I tried disconnecting the battery for 30 minutes or so, to see if there was any computer confusion.
Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks a lot for your time.

Welcome to the site.
Sounds as if the security system has activated and won't allow the car to start.
You can't just "put back in" a factory radio. They are VIN or serial number protected and have to be matched up with the car via a scan tool.
Or a simple reason. Did the battery voltage happen to run down while you were doing all this work ?
Maybe check it and charge it up.

thank you guys so much! All it ended up being was low battery voltage. A jump start and everything was well.

And don't depend on the alternator to recharge that battery! Either trickle charge it or replace the battery!
