Car stalls when I turn on a/c

I started my car and turned on the a/c and the car stalled. I tried this agian and the same thing happened. I had the blower motor replaced about 2mths ago due to famous water leak. Could this my compressor went out. I don't have codes showing. Any help would be much appriecated.

If the compressor is seized it would cause the car to die. Try raising the RPMs and then turn the a/c on, then see if it dies. Does it die with a heavy thud or just simply shut off? Have you eyeballed the compressor while someone else turns it on?

It will run raising th RPM's. There is a slight moaning\whinning niose. When I had the blower motor put in they were suppose to check the a\c. Could it low freon\oil? I've just never had this happen before. thanks for your help.

Could be low on freon/oil. You need to get an A/C performance test done, if the compressor will come on. If it won't it could be seized. Can you see the clutch turning on the end of the compressor when you turn it on?

Maybe the serpentine belt and tensioner could be looked at too. It could be loose or slipping and not helping the AC clutch engage/disengage actuation.

But that would not stall the engine..

Well in my old car before my HHR I recharged tha AC. While recharging the AC I heard the compressor click on followed my a loud squeal. I do know that if the clutch portion is seized and you click it on u will get a loud squeal I don't think it would nessacarily cause it to instantly die. If it was low on Freon the Low Pressure sensor would see that and keep the AC from even coming on. That includes High Pressure sensor.

Yes, that further validates my previous comment.. The squeal & then the smell of rubber burning if you kept it going..

If it did NOT squeal / slip I believe that could conceivably stall the motor at idle..

I'm actually starting to wonder if it maybe some type of electronical problem. I could be wrong because I'm not a mechanic. I only know things from my own experience.
