Castrol GTX has failed GM's most recent GM6094M testing

There are a lot of specs listed on the Canadian site that are not on the US site.
Something big has changed in the GTX formulation.
The Castrol US site no longer says it meets the GM 6094M spec

The Castrol Canada site still says it meets GM 6094M

Simply comparing the info between the US and Canadian Castrol sites, it appears that GTX also lost Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, and Peugeot spec compliance.
The fact that the US Castrol site has dropped that info from their warrantee page indicates to me that they have no intention in addressing it.

LR.....
According to the post you referred to.... there is no service bulletin of Castrol not meeting GM Spec.'s. But the bulletin is for the OILS THAT DO MEET THE GM SPEC.'S.. Kind of double speak !!!

From the linked July 2007 issue of GMTechLink:
"An updated version of the GM6094M Approved Engine Oils list is available in the Reference Guide section of the TechLink website. GM has recently conducted a test program to check several of the oils on the Approved Oils list for compliance with the GM6094M specification. One of the oils tested during this program, Castrol GTX, was found not to meet the GM6094M specification, and so this oil has been removed from the Approved Oils list."

The test that GTX failed appears to be recent, and there is probably still a lot of product in the retail stream that is labeled from prior to the test when they met the standard. Maybe.

Well I'll ask again...what consists of the test and what is tested? What is this standard and who determines it? I'm no Castrol apologist believe me and I'd be asking the same thing if I didn't just use the GTX.
I find it hard to believe that a GM engine will perform different on a "non" meeting standard oil vs something GM says meets the standard...take Royal Purple for example...not on the list but I think it will do just fine in any GM engine...don't think I saw Amsoil either on that list....maybe the 6049M stands for how much money you need to give to GM to be on the list lol
Interesting to see how this turns out
