I am replacing the Plug and Gasket tomorrow. Sucks I just wasted $30.00 of Mobil one. But better than a $1000.00 Engine.
Drain the new oil into a Very Clean catch can.. & put it back in after drain plug washer added.

The oem Drain Plug does have like a nylon 'type' washer on mine..

donbrew's advice on how to check the oil level, and the importance of it being on a level surface is highly right on!!!

I switched to a synthetic oil a while back (after running conventional oil for a few years - and encountering minimal oil usage between changes). But I switched back to regular oil when I found the engine ate just over a quart of synthetic in very short order (probably less than 3000 miles).

It took a second oil change before the oil consumption returned to it's normal amount of MAYBE a 1/8 to 1/4 of a quart in 4-5000 miles.

And often a bad drain plug gasket will leak whether the engine is running or not. But keep us posted on the outcome once it is replaced. And Sleeper is right, you can dump that oil back in as he details. Just don't contaminate it - it will be fine.

I cleaned the bottom of that Pan, I am going to drive a few days and look and see if I see any oil and check the level. If I do, I am going to replace the Plug and Gasket.

Synthetic oil is just that, synthetic. Has no dino oil in it unless it's a blend.

I typically check the oil when the usage is at 75%, 50% and 25%. Then I change it around 15%. Usually, I will add about a cup at the 50% mark.
