Check Engine Light On

My check engine light came on and I have the codes for the reason why it came on, except, I'm not sure exactly what it means and if it would be covered under my powertrain warranty. They are p0030 &P0036-Heater Circuit, P0053 &P0054-Heater Resistance, P0102 MAF Low Input, and P0443 EVAP Purge control value circuit. Most of the codes seems to be listed as part of the powertrain but I want to make sure before I bring it to the dealership. Does anyone know by chance? I have a 2007 HHR that is still covered for the powertrain. Thanks :)

Well, how long have you had the HHR, and was it from a chevy dealership?

And WELCOME!

Thank you for the welcome! It's good to be here!

I've had the car since 2007 and I did get it from the dealership. I had called them to ask if it was still under waranty and they said yes, the powertrain warranty only. I don't want to pay the fee for their diagnostic test so I was able to get the codes from my mechanic (free of charge) and now I am just trying to do my homework to make sure they won't rip me off, saying it isn't covered when it may be. I'm a little skeptical of the dealership to be honest. Any suggestions or ideas?
Thanks all :)

Finish your homework, and turn it in when you're done.
Sorry, couldn't resist.

I'd say figure out what you can, and about how much you could expect to maybe pay if its not covered, and go from there.

The codes really are only pointers to diagnostic tree branches. If the code seems to say "bad MAF" It is really saying "go to the diagnostic procedure for MAF". That being said, have you recently changed the air filter or cleaned the throttle body or MAF or steam cleaned the engine compartment? Could be the "forgot to plug the MAF back in" or loose connector thing. Or improperly cleaning the MAF. Luckily a new MAF is not incredibly expensive. Check for damaged wires, loose connectors and moisture in connectors and sensors.

Also, these codes are all Emissions equipment related, and have a different warrantee. So the question is "is this covered under Emissions?". Try calling a Service dept. give them the codes and ask about emissions equipment.

hhr856,

I agree with donbrew, call the dealership with the codes and see if they are covered under warranty. Let us know what you find out.
