Chimes

Hey, so I was watching a tutorial video and I noticed that the hhr is supposed to have chimes...
I got the car a year back, and I'm pretty sure I've never heard the car chime since then, so I'm assuming the previous owner either "disabled" it or removed it.
Where is this - chime module - located and what might the person have done to disengage it, and how can I fix it?

Does your HHR have a working drivers door speaker ? (the speaker. not the tweeter) That is where the chime sound emits from. If that speaker doesn't work, then there will be no chime sound.
Does your HHR have the original radio ? If it has been changed to an aftermarket unit, it may not have the extra module installed to produce the chime sounds.
There is a procedure to adjust the chime volume if you have the original radio. That procedure is in the Owners Manual.
Chime Level Adjustment
"The radio may be used to adjust the vehicle's chime level. If the radio can be used to change the volume level of the chime, press and hold the sixth numbered pushbutton or the sixth FAV pushbutton with the ignition on and the radio power off. The volume level changes between Normal and Loud. The selected volume level appears on the radio display. Removing the radio and not replacing it with a factory radio or chime module will disable vehicle chimes"

Just like FMG says, the driver’s door speaker is most likely not working any longer.

For anybody else; that procedure only applies to 2009-2011. Check YOUR Owner Manual.

???
I pulled that procedure from the 2010 Owners Manual. I thought it was the same for all years. That procedure does work on my 2010.

Then it must be 2010 only; didn't work on my 2008 or 2011. I looked at all of the manuals, 2009-2011 say it works. Did not on my 2011.

I couldn't find anything about the chime volume adjustment in the manual for my 2007. And the chime seems to come from both front speakers if it's warning about the passenger seat belt so that should come on with a blown driver's speaker.

ok, my speaker works fine (all of em) and plus, the 6th fav button method doesn't do anything, neither is it mentioned in the 2006 lt owners manual.
