Clicking noise above 35mph

I’ve noticed a clicking noise that seems to be coming from the wheels (both sides). It starts at about 35-40 mph. As soon as I drop below 35 mph it stops. The noise seems to keep pace with the vehicle speed. It sounds like it’s coming from the plastic hubcaps. Are there any TSB’s on noisy hubcaps? Anyone else notice this on the LS models?

Thanks,

JJ

Yes......

Tsb #05-03-10-013b Rattle/Click/Ticking type noise coming from wheel cover.

But I can't tell you what the fix is. Maybe CM can.....

The solution devised is some sort of wheel insulation cover. The "delrin" ring seems to be the culprit.

I stopped by the Chevy dealer and asked their Service Dept. if they new of any TSB's or if they had any previous complaints on the hub caps. They said there were no TSB's that they new of and never had any complaints related to the hub caps.

TY for the info. I'll give CM a shout.

Uuuurrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a 2006 HHR we purchased Nov 2005 and have been having that problem with the clicking sound since at least 1 1/2 - 2 years ago. First I was told that the noise was from my rims being swapped...They said first that my rims were someone elses and they did not fit my car. When I questioned that answer they told me something new. Then about the 3-4th time I brought it back I was told the hub cab needed to be replaced because it was broken inside. After that the noise still persisted and they replaced that service bulletin thing talked about above....that was last Summer 2007. About 2 months ago I went back to the dealer because it still has that noise and was told "Nothing is wrong with my vehicle, I test drove a new HHR and it makes the same noise, deal with it". Well I contacted chevy and they seem to want to find out why it is making that noise but because I have 65000 miles on it now they said I would have to pay for diagonsis and they will see what the problem is and see if chevy can help pay for the repairs if any are needed but no guarentee......How messed up is that?

It's not that hard to tell if it's coming from the wheel covers.

Take them off and see if the noise goes away.
