Clicking from Shifter
#11
My '06 also decided to do this a few weeks ago.
It normally clicks when I brake to shift from Park, which is NORMAL. But it clicked EVERY TIME I hit the brakes (to slow, stop etc) and the doors did not auto. lock when I put it in gear.
That constant clicking is anoying to say the least.
I checked fuses, all good.
The next day - wouldn't ya know - no more constant clicking -just when shifting out of Park, and the doors were auto. locking again.
I chalk it up to washing it, nice weather and then getting bitterly cold (-15). The following day it was "nice" again when it started acting normal.
The HHR is definitly NOT a cold weather car... To bad I live in North Dakota :) I still like mine though, despite this & the brake fluid light - and the terrible staining fabric seats.

Wont shift from Park
Just lately having this issue with 06 HHR. After clicking the shifter button until you hear the ignition click then try to put in gear, it has been working every time.....we used some white lubricant sprayed on and around button but I really dont think that did anything much less go anywere but around the shifter below...

Every time i hit the brake in park or in gear i get a clicking sound that is now driving me nuts. It seems to be the exact same problem that happens with the key sticking but failing the other possible way. Now i don't have remote start, and my doors don't automatically lock when put in gear, plus it too late on sat to get to the dealership.
Thanks for letting me vent, and i actually just thought to go and check the fuses.

Jean Murphy, eat_world hasn’t been here since 2012 , not likely you’ll get an answer.
So, how’s about you explain the issue with your HHR and we can advise you from there.
The clicking is the gear selector safety switch
The cruise is disabled because of a CEL or high brake light problem
