Close but not quite

I have been spending some time getting the new timing chain/balance shaft set replaced this week. I decided not to do the water pump and wait until I had a hoist. Anyway I got everything but the wheel well buttoned up today. She fired up quiet, smooth , but I have a large oil leak. It is coming from the drivers side. I pulled the wheel off and it looks very much like it was coming from the thermostat housing area. I must have screwed up the valve cover gasket somehow New gasket and torqued to spec.... I guess that I will pull it apart tomorrow. I hope it is easy because I am dying to test drive this thing.

It doesn't take much for a gasket to move a little and get pinched when torquing down the bolts. I've had it happen a number of times over the years. Once I had to go back to the parts store and get a second gasket. If this was something you did every day you'd nail it every time. Hope it goes smoothly this time!

Hate to admit it but years ago I managed to pinch a loose wire under a valve cover. (not a HHR)
Yep. Customer brought it back several days later with a nice, messy oil leak. Live and learn.

#188 and #190 are the phasers. there are no O-rings.

I think you mean the Camshaft Position Actuator Solenoid Valves, #236 and #237.

I meant solanoids 236 and 237. I picked one up locally and got it all back together. No leaks and runs good so far ( just took a spin around the block). While the timing chain was a big project. I just took my time and tried to work carefully an got it done in a week's spare time.
