Hi there haven't posted in a while, because the HHR has been healthy...lol. I just replaced the front rotors and pads due to a shake in the steering wheel when braking .Now that it's nice and smooth again another problem has risen when braking the passenger side has a thud or clunking sound when slowing down? Has anyone had this problem? The car just turned 70 km. Thanks in advance.

Did you use factory pads or aftermarket when you replaced them (I'm assuming you replaced the pads when you replaced the rotors ....) - if not it may be a "marginal fit" issue.
If you did use factory pads, did you use new shims and retainers? If not, the old ones could be knackered, allowing the pads to move around when you apply the brakes.

I put premium pads and rotors on, it cleared up the shake braking.I'm thinking now it could be joint problem.

Found the problem, i didn't clean off the backing plate good enough there was still a little rust there. Now the clunking noise is gone, like new again.
