Compass not displaying

Compass not displaying
Okay, I have read the achives, read the manual several times and we have driven around in circles, BUT we still cannot see the compass display in the mirror (and, yes, we have the Auto Dimming Mirror). Our little button to the left looks like a Clock.
Help please! You guys are awesome.

The owner's manual (pg 3-36) states "If the vehicle has either one of these buttons press to the turn the compass on or off"...then are you saying that I must ALSO have the button with the "Hand/N" symbol?

ButterflyDogs mirror pic(from gallery)..
On my '08 2LT mirror, the furthest left (clock looking) button actually turns my compass off & on. Even tho it's listed in my owners manual as the auto dim button.
Under the mirror should be 2 black rubber buttons, 1 for each map light side.
What I do not see on your picture is a black square in the upper right corner of the mirror face, is it there ??

I just checked and there are no little black buttons under the mirror edge. I can see a larger 'boxed' area on the left side which is the rearview mirror display but no other 'box' or blackened area.

Thanks for trying to help...I'm waiting to call the service department. I wonder if there might be a fuse that is missing? All the advertsing literature I find states "compass" as a feature with Autodimming mirrors.
