Thumbs down Condensation on inside of windshield

Over the passed couple of weeks I have noticed that the inside of my windshield always has condensation on it in the evenings and mornings. Of course this takes for ever to dry using the defrost system and is really a pain in the butt. What would be a common cause of this? Also, about 6 months ago I had a new windshield put in by a local place here in town. Could this be part of the problem?

Two most common causes are a leaking heater core, or a water leak into the interior of the vehicle. If you're not smelling coolant when you operate the heater or the vents, it pretty much points to a water leak.

Since you had the windshield replaced I'm guessing the installer left a small gap in the sealant/adhesive that bonds the glass into the windshield aperture.

Have someone run a hose around the perimeter of the windshield while you look under the dash and feel the carpet for moisture. You might also contact the folks who installed the glass to see what sort of installation warranty they have and if its still in force in regards to your vehicle.

daddy2isaiah04,

I'm sorry to hear you are having this problem. If you are still under warranty I would have your dealership check it out. Let us know what you find out.

I would look at your sunroof drains if you have a sunroof and also the cowl patch under the wipers, either could be leaking. There is also the possibility of the front door seals where the wire harness passes into the car leaking as well.

Its your new windshield. I had the same thing happen when i replaced mine a few years ago. Its not sealed as well as it should be. Definitely call the place where you had it installed.

If it happened after the windsheild was put in have the installer look first. If you go to the dealer first and they find it was the installer, the dealer will charge you for a diagnosis even if you are under warrantee, unless of course the dealer was the installer
