Exclamation Constant door problems - any MI HHR specialists?

Anybody here that knows a lot about the door plungers/knobs not going up freely? I've had probs pretty much ever since I got my HHR back in Oct 2012. Yes, I've taken to dealer and they always point to key FOB, I did have that replaced as it wasn't working right. However, the handles still off and on do not go up freely all the time. I've verified the FOB is not the issue as the button on the side door when pressing it, the handles still don't go up quickly all the time. I've just got my vehicle back from the recall and brought this up with Belle Tire, the guy sprayed some type of grease in the holes where the handles are, seems improved except the driver door is now not working right.

I've read it being the door actuator in different threads here. There are pictures yes. I don't know enough about taking the door off and such. Any HHR owners in Wayne County, MI area that knowledgable on this? Any HHR specialists I could get in touch with to have this looked at?

Again, the dealer doesn't seem to understand the problem, Belle Tire at least had some other ideas. I think the actuator or what not needs to either be replace or lubed real well.

Thanks,

Nick

Not sure why this is posted here.. This would be better served in it's own post, with the problem as a headline. I'd do it, but alas, no mod privs. Bummer.

Up in Rogers City, and with a '09 SS now. Still have the '08 Panel. I see a few HHRs up here but no SSs or Panels.

Bought it in Flint, Michigan in 2013 with only 10,833 miles. It was nearly stock until I installed the Trifecta tune. Turn off the AC, the traction, and the cruise and look out Mustangs, Magnums, etc.

Am looking for help is all, someone that is a specialist that can look at this door issue. Don't know where to turn if the Chevy dealers don't seem to have a clue and other auto places aren't specialists.

What is no mod privs?

Posted the below in another thread and probably shouldn't have, copying and pasting it here:

Belle Tire got the doors working a little bit better, but the driver door seems worse. Need to somehow get the actuators replaced or lubed. I've had door probs pretty much ever since I got the used car back in end of 2012.

Looking for some HHR specialists to help me, I will glady pay for help as well. :)

Thanks,

Nick

The reason for it sticking is that the wire that the plunger is attached to has gotten itself out of it's guide/channel/place. You have to remove the door panel and look closely at the routing of the wire, there is a bit of shiny plastic where the wire is supposed to rest. If the panels have ever been removed it is very easy to get the wire of it's guide. Been there, done that.

You don't need an HHR specialist, you just need a body mechanic that has an eye for getting it right.

You could also have a common issue as these get older where the motors in the door actuators don't work up to snuff. Most shops will replace the entire actuator (about $140 ea for parts give or take). If it is the actuator, there is a thread in the how to section (https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...39/#post701045) about replacing the actuator motors which is a much cheaper route to go. All 4 of my doors were acting up. I fixed all 4 of them myself for about $15 and a few hours, vs $850 at the dealer.
