You don't need an HHR specialist, you just need a body mechanic that has an eye for getting it right.
I hope that it's that simple. How do you take the door apart? I mean basic, basic here instructions, the first thing you unscrew is what? Looked at some of the pictures of that one guide. Looks a bit advanced. I don't know enough about cars to doing some of that, although taking the door apart and checking that it is guided or in place I think I could do (or would be willing to do).

No offense, but taking off a door panel is basic mechanics.
I would suggest subbing the job out to someone with the know how or basic mechanical ability.

Shockingly, I am NOT offended. Why? Because I'm not a car guy! :) My concern of taking the door off is not being able to get it on properly or everything tightended, etc. It would require some risks for a non-car guru.

firemangeorge's advice is good - taking off a door panel can lead to breaking a few things if one is not careful. and a torx driver is needed, which not everyone has hanging around in their tool box (at least they aren't expensive though).

Generally speaking - if you can take it apart, you SHOULD be able to get it put back together.

On a difficulty scale of 1-10, I'd rate the job as a 3 (lowish difficulty)

The guide I was talking about is basically a shiny bit of plastic.

Are you talking about the rod that the door lock knob is attached to? Mine just flop around freely once the interior panel is off. Any pictures of this plastic piece?

I found out the hard way that there is a right and a wrong place to put it back. It's really just a patch on the liner, doesn't look like it matters. It was a while ago and my memory may be in error, but I do know for sure that I had to take the panel off 3 times to make the lock work.
