It’s difficult when you change the water pump with the front cover on . Hard to line up the bolt holes with the sprocket tool in place

That's what the tool is for! It has holes in the correct spots for the bolts.

I’ve never used one , I always change the balance shaft chain and timing chain at water pump change time.

But how do you line up the new water pump bolt holes? From what I understand, you turn the impeller till they line up. Correct?

I found this video about the whine. Guy says that the timing tensioner has to be reset. I will probably replace the timing chains and stuffs no since in opening up the cover if I'm not. Where should I buy the timing kit? I saw the post with the video explaining everything but saw no links as to what kit to get.

RockAuto, search 9-4201SX it doesn’t include crank or cam sprockets, or 9-4201SA that includes the crankshaft sprocket for the timing chain. And 9-4202S for the balance shaft chain kit with sprockets or 9-4202SX without sprockets .

Summit racing also carries them

the camshaft sprockets in the 9-4201S kit are not compatible with VVT in the 2.4 or 2.0 Ecotec or the 2009 thru 2011 2.2 with VVT

This person explains chain whine and also how to use the tool.
Go to 10:21 for pump removal.
Listen earlier and he talks about the whine.
