I confirmed in another thread about oil consumption you have a 2008 2.2 litre , so I moved this to its own current thread.

Check the pcv hose at the rubber elbow to the throttle body, sometimes oil gets ingested there.

Anyway, the answer is drum roll please: a new ACDelco 131-158 thermostat, no other part number.

Open the pressure cap to check coolant level frequenly.

Since you said in another thread that you are losing oil; you should suspect bad rings, 2 quarts in 2 weeks is a lot. Check it very frequently.

Please read FMG and RJ’s response posts on page one.

Greg, I confirmed the engine in question is not a 2.0 LNF turbo engine, that’s why I separated the threads also the other thread was from over a decade ago, doubtful any responses would be posted.

98% of the time, this is a bad thermostat issue. Get the ACDelco 131-158, accept no substitute. Here is the how-to https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...l-p0128-24493/
Thanks again. I'm new and try to find my way around here.

Ok, I've moved all of your posts to this thread. So now oil loss is noted here, so our answers are a little bit muddled.

The thermostat suggestion addresses the issue you have with the flatline coolant temperature readout.
