98% of the time, this is a bad thermostat issue. Get the ACDelco 131-158, accept no substitute. Here is the how-to https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/how-...l-p0128-24493/
can't afford a Delco. Called today and it like 128.00 at advanced auto. AutoZone said they couldn't get it. Im on fixed income. What would be the next one that you would prefer to get? Thanks

There have been lots of issues over the years when HHR owners use off brand t-stats. Best to stick with the AC Delco.

Fwiw. Oreillys shows the AC Delco stat for $75. Ebay and Amazon have listings $50 and up.

I bought this one in 2018, and I am currently using it. It was only $35 then. We've seen too many non OE thermostats fail, can't recommend any other.

Try Mahle. OEM producer, identical to ACDelco, probably the maker. 1/4 price, give or take. If Autozome has it or can get it they may match Rock Auto's price.

If you don't use the right one, at least you will know what is wrong next time and the time after that and the time after that. Depends on when you pay.
I guess somebody realized that it was the only one that works and bumped the price.
