Coolant temp sensor

I have an 06 2.4 and need to know where the temp sensor is located. I am dealing with the flat line gauge problem and wanted to verify the sensor is plugged in.

Thanks

Your problem is probably the thermostat.

Thanks ChevyMgr

I took the car out at lunch to go pick up the T stat and coolant. I noticed it did read a temp after driving it for a bit. Normally it sits right around 194 but today it was all over from 189 to 198. I will tackle this project tonight and report back if it fixed my problem.

Chevy Mgr. is right. Its the thermostat, when the rubber in it degrades it it causes it not to close and regulate the temp. so the temp never reaches the operating temp and throws a code. Also the temp. display on the DIC shows_ _ _ . Had to change mine out back in Feb. Was talking to a few mechanic friends of mine and all of them suggested to flush the system of Dex Cool and use something like Prestone.Seems the Dex Cool degrades rubber faster than other coolants for some reason.

I went and bought all the stuff to do it this weekend but am not 100% sure its the T stat. Today on the way to work the DIC was reading 185 and the AC was on. Then after 15 minutes of driving the DIC went blank and the AC stopped working. I don't understand how the T stat could cause that situation. When I started the car the DIC was reading 79 and I watched it slowly climb to 185. How could the T stat cause the DIC and gauge to go from 185 to 0 in 2 seconds flat?

It's the thermostat!!! The thermostat is stuck in an open condition with the deteriorated rubber that is part of the thermostat valve condition. When the engine is initially started, the DIC will show the temp correctly, but as the engine will take longer to come up to operating temperature, and the computer expects it to come up to temp sooner than it does in this condition, it flags an ERROR, and blanks out the temp reading with ---. When this under temperature condition is detected, the A/C is disabled by the computer. And on occasion, the Check engine Light will come on, and a code will be captured - on occasion - but not always.

there are lots of posts covering this already - but it is the thermostat - just go change it.

"DIC went blank and the AC stopped working" DUE TO ECT SENSOR or (coolant temp sen) the thermos right next to it and easy to change do both and you're set.
