Couple of problems after intake manifold installation

Hello all!

I have been reading the performance mods for a while now.

Thank you all for your inputs, this is a great resource.

Today I installed the Create Engine intake manifold on my 2008 2.2 LT.

After making sure everything was on and plugged back in, I did the ECM reset at the battery in the back of the vehicle. (Although the radio stations stayed in)

When I started it up, it took a couple cranks, then started. Went right up to 3500 rpm, stayed there for about 20 seconds, then went to about 1200 rpm.

It really idled rough, up and down, up and down.

When the engine got warm, it started "whining" like there was a belt stopped, and a pulley was spinning. I searched and could not seem to find where the noise was coming from.

I took her out in my area for a drive.

At idle in drive, very rough, engine rpms go up and down, like it is looking for a proper place to idle.

When I pulled out into traffic, the pickup was great!

With the CGS intake on it also (purchased used here on this board!), it sounded great, and it also had just got up and went better than before.

When I came to a light, again, rough idle, and the whining noise (heard all through the gears up to speed) was still there.

I went back home, reset the ECM again, and still the same symptoms.

Anyone have this experience? Suggestions?

Had to go to work, so if no fixes are heard, back on goes the old manifold.

Thanks again for all of your threads, suggestions and mods!

Did you also change the throttle body??

If so, that WILL require a tune to compensate.

If not, better check for vacuum leaks.

It's either of the two above!

No, put the same throttle body back on, with the adapter and gasket.

Also check for any leaks between between the airbox and the throttle body...

leak check trick

spray throttle body cleaner around possible leak areas while running , you should hear the rpm change if sucks the cleaner in.

Success!

Found that the PCV orifice gasket needs to be installed too!

After installing it, and making sure everything was tight, and installed, no whining, no rough idle.

Thank you all for the answers!

Will let you all know how she runs after a drive.

Now, tomorrow the B&M shift kit!
