NINE times so far and still not fixed

Started to raise Hell with GM now, I'm tired of it!! I HATE this.

Plus today the dealer made a comment, "we're working way too hard on a car we didn't sell" WTF? Plus told me they most likely wouldn't pay for a rental anymore due to the fact it is an ongoing issue and they've tried too many things.

This is my first GM and possibly my last. I happen to like this vehicle as it is all the things I need in a work vehicle. However, with the level of customer service and expertise it amazes me that anyone buys more than one American car.

Ok, we're up to 11 times

Now I have my own Chevy Rep to see what we can do. It goes to the shop tomorrow and I told them it is either fixed, or I roll out with a nice new 08 optioned the same way as my 07...it was either that or the lemon law lawyer is going to talk to them.

I think this time they have made the commitment, it's going to stay at the dealer until the issue is resolved or I end up with another HHR.

I guess I'll have to make due with driving an Impala or Malibu for a while. I told them I drive 100+ miles a day so no miles on my car for a while.

Thanks for the update. Let us know if they finally get a handle on this thing...

Not fixed yet, still an issue...

They've authorized a complete swap of the entire cruise system off an '08 sitting on the lot. So now they've started this procedure.

Now, call me crazy, but if they can swap everything off a lot car, why can't they just get the same parts in?

I'll at least give it to GM they schedule a tech call every day from Corporate and a District Rep. Then again, they know if it's not fixed by Friday I told them I either sit down with a salesman and order a new HHR or it goes to the lemon law attorney.

Have they ever put that "data recorder" in your car? I think they have something that you push a button when the problem occurs and it captures all of the systems data at the time. Has the dealership tech ever been able to replicate the problem?

Let us know the resolution...

Just an FYI

I've had a cruise control issue for months, they have finally attributed it to LED tail/brake lights. Part of this PIA that I have went through and also to add insult to injury they tried to charge me over $300 plus my rental car for this las repair due to "aftermarket equipment", I told them they were f'n bulbs! They said sorry, long story short, I ended up eating $80 for the rental and they ate the labor.

So, watch, I don't know why the electrical system on an HHR is so touchy. I've put LED lights in every one of my cars for quite a few years now. I'm getting ready to add a amp to the stereo but now I'm kind of gun shy.

Good luck to all

Did you remove the LED lights and see if it fixed the issue? My cruise quit on me again today and my '07 is bone stock. I hope that it still isn't working tomorrow so that the dealer can replicate the problem. Apparently, when it happened last time, whatever it is it leaves no codes...

The cruise control worked on and off today so I dropped into the dealership while it was not functioning. They hooked their tech-2 up to the HHR and said that the torque converter control switch (TCC) was bad apparently making the cruise control think I was stepping on the brake - therefore the cruise would not engage. They replaced the switch and all is well.... so far...

LOL, what a bunch of boneheads. I can't believe they didn't check the brake switch much earlier in the diagnostic process given that they were trouble shooting the cruise ctrl and the brake switch is an important component thereof. I think its about a $35 part.

Actually, I was wrong. It's not a $35 part. It's a $4 part. Cruise Control Switch, p/n 22681412.

Here it is on the brake pedal plate, the smaller switch on the left:

The larger switch to the right of it is the brake light switch, p/n 12450036.
