cruise control not working

Schedule an appointment with your dealer(explain your situation) and they should provide transportation to take you to work and pick you up. They can even bring your car to you. Trust me we do it for customers all the time. If not find a different dealer.

The cruise stopped working (intermittently) on my '07 and it turned out to be the TCC switch (torque converter control switch). Everything seemed to function properly (ie, the light on the steering wheel switch illuminated when cruise was turned on), it just wouldn't set. The dealer said the defective TCC switch made the computer think I was stepping on the brake pedal. Anyways, replacing the switched fixed it for me.

Most of the vehicles now days don't have a brake switch they have a brake sensor which tells the brain box to turn on the lights. In May of 2014 GM had a recall on a few vehicle for a "Tail Light Malfunction" in which the Cruise Control quit working and warnings like Service ESC, Service Traction Control, ABS, etc displayed on the dash. In most cases either the Brake Lights stopped working or became stuck on all the time. The HHR has the same defective parts as the recall models but GM got away without including the HHR on the recall. Contact the NHTSA and file a complaint to help make GM fix it under the recall. Apparently the ground cable is not sufficient and allows a short causing the brain box to lose it's connection with the brake sensor. There fore causing lots of issues and warnings.

This forum is absolutely ridiculous. Totally different than what I thought it would be. Once in a while someone posts something semi interesting or intelligent, otherwise a snoozefest. Where are all the enthusiasts and customs, I hope they're not all dead yet, I mean production only stopped a few years ago. I guess most just use them to carry groceries. I absolutely love mine, and its just my work vehicle.
