Cruise control not working
My 2006 HHR got stuck in park. I took the coveroff the shifter and the accuator that unlocks the shifter is not moving. I used a screw driver to move the brake stop out of the way so now I can drive the car, but now the when i drive the Cruise control does not work.
I swapped out the fuse no 46 for "Park, Neutral" but this did not do anythng.
Does any one have any suggestions?
Also I don't see a fuse for the cruise control, What governs the Cruise control?

Sounds like a self inflicted injury. I'm with firemangeorge here, forcing the actuator into unlocking the shifter is telling the BCM that the brakes are "on" keeping the cruise from engaging. You'll have to repair the Brake/Shift Interlock actuator before the cruise will function again.

I move the brake stop out of the way just to shift the car out of park, then I release it. The brake stop is not locked in the open position.
When the car is in park, I step on the brake and the brake stop does not move. My thinking is what ever controls the cruise control also controls the brake stop, and the 2 problems are related. I don't have a lot of money so I need to see if I can fix this myself.
