Cylinder Head Bolts

They say you can find anything on the internet. Except the size of head bolts for the 2.2 Ecotech.
I purchased two thread chasers from Matco (actual thread chasers not taps).
I got a M8 x 1.25 and a M12 x 1.75.
The M12 x 1.75 showed up and it's too big.
What are the actual sizes of these metric bolts??????

What is it you are trying to accomplish?

Did you try going to a hardware/auto parts store and matching? NAPA usually has bins of nuts & bolts along with sizing tools.

This is odd. Seems to say the head bolts are M11 X 1.5.

You are both right. #1 and #2 on donbrew's chart.

donbrew - I used the quote button to reply to you but I don't see it anywhere. (My first day on the site-excuse me).
I want to clean the threads before I put the head back on. Also, I took a new bolt to AutoZone to use their thread sizing
tool and the closest fit was M12 x 1.75. Thanks. That's a nice drawing. I have to find that one.

If you look at the chart there are 3 bolt holes of different sizes. You would need all three to chase the threads to do a cylinder head install correctly.
M12x1.75 is only one sized used.
M11x1.5 are the bolts that clamp down the head around the cylinder bores.

You really shouldn't need to clean the threads, if there is any metal in there you have worse problems.

The drawings are from the FSM/Mitchell OnDemand.

When you click the quote a reply form opens up with the quoted parts, then you choose where to insert your text. It kind of hides from your eyes.

I really thinks he wants to clean the larger bolt holes which he doesn't have a thread chaser for yet. Yes, you more than likely can get away with not cleaning the other holes, but if your going to do the job, do it correctly.
Remember a chaser is not a tap.

Cat Man HHR - Yes. I am trying to clean the #2 bolt holes. They already look pretty good but my son and I
have spent some time on this head and I don't plan on doing it again. Thanks
