Dash Lights Dimmer Switch

So I have this dimmer switch/knob/wheel on the center dash. When I spin it left or right the dash lights dim and go bright as normal. If I go full bright and beyond to the indent nothing happens. Normally this would operate the dome light. Is it suppose too?

I don't think that 06 had that, There is a post on here somewhere that shows how to make it work. I had to do it to my 06 and my wife's 07. I will see if I can find it.

Great! Interesting that the dimmer installed feels like it would work. Anyhow, I'll have to schedule that project. Thanks

That's not something I really ever thought about in the 7 years we've owned ours. I just reach back and turn it on if I want it on. Generally speaking, it's not something that you'd do while you are driving and it's mainly for the rear seat passengers since the lights on the mirror are within fairly easy reach for the front seat passengers.

I'm actually a little disappointed in the whole lighting inside the HHR. I think there should be another dome light right above and slightly behind the driver/passenger like on most other vehicles. Mine has the sunroof option but I think you could still add a fairly flush dome light and wire it in with the rear. I think the wiring should clear the sunroof mechanism. This is something I will look into sometime in the future.
