From the searching I have done, I believe you’re correct skyline26. On page 3-16 of the 2006 HHR owner’s manual it reads “Slide the switch to the left or right to brighten or dime the light (instrument panel lights).” There is no mention of turning on the dome lights as it does in the 2008 HHR owner’s manual (3-18).

Speaking of this I/P Dimmer Switch.... I have a 2010 2LT and I was wondering if this switch is meant to light up when the dash lights are on at night? Mine doesn't and I don't want to go through all the trouble to remove trim only to find out there is no bulb to replace. It's just annoying trying to find that control at night and having to do it by feel. Thanks for all help anyone can give.
