Dead Battery!

Well my wife bought a new 08 HHR (POJ) (POS)
Drove home from dealer yesterday afternoon 3 hours later
and car will not start Dead Battery. The battery was supposed to have been replaced prior to delivery. Part of purchase agreement due to resorting to useing the jump box twice during purchase and test ride.
Any thoughts other then we were screwed

Sorry to hear that you are of to such a start w/ your HHR ownership.

I think the key phrase here is "suppose to have been". Sounds like the dealer didn't live up to their end of the deal and shorted you by a battery. I would return to the dealer to get the new battery, and maybe find a different dealership to have any future servicing done.

With Chevy's Free 800 number I would let them come get it and bring me a loaner.

Cool

Well we will be at the dealer upon opening tomorrow I will jump it with my silverado in the AM. Unfortunatley we both are taking some time off to handle this which the dealership owner will be made aware of. This is the sixth GM product that we have bought from this dealership with nothing like this ever happening before, I have been a loyal GM Consumer with always using GMAC financing I believe they will make this right or I will not take delivery of a new 1500 silverado which is also in the works. (paper works has not been signed/finalized)
My wife wants a different HHR
She needs a dependable vehicle for her job

Don't know if the dealer showed you the proper jumping technique for the HHR, if not check the following thread for some very important info!!

Well I popped the hood and looked and then went to the Manual and this board so all should be good. Thanks folks, I will keep all posted
After reading all the info on this board I am questioning the dependability
and quality of the HHR. Unfortunatley my wife is one that gets in a vehicle turns key and goes. Is the HHR any Good?

Having Dory for nearly 3 years, the only time she's ever let me down was w/ a possibly defective battery. After sitting for 2 weeks, I had to get a jump start. Never wanted to hold a charge after that. The battery was replaced by dealer under warranty, and over a year later no problems, including several week long no starts.

We'll have had our '06 LS 3 Years come Aug. 15th and we still have the original battery in it. Which is amazing since you're lucky to get 2 Years out of a battery here in the Phoenix area. I thought it had died about a week ago when it wouldn't start when my Wife was heading to work. I tried a charger on it for about a half hour, and still nothing. Then, just for the heck of it, I moved the shift lever back and forth. Tried again and it started right up! Ran it over to the Dealer and the Rep said if the button on the front of the shift knob doesn't pop out when you put it in park, the car won't start!
Who'da thunk it?

The best part about these forums is you can find a place to make comments--usually the problems. This is a good thing as it keeps us on our toes in case there is an issue.

If you really read, you'll find that pretty much ALL of us have had no problems and dependability hasn't been an issue. I see more HHR's every day here in SoCal, so others know they are good cars too.

So, I hope this is an isolated incident (it seems to be) and a dealer error. I too have been with the same dealer for at least 25 years (my parents bought their cars there) and they have never steered us wrong with all the cars and trucks we've bought.

Fingers crossed it is a minor (albeit pain in the butt) thing! I LOVE my car and hope you will too!
