Hi all , had this happen once before and did it the other day . Everything fine , went to start and click click . Just like a dead battery . Jumped it away we went like nothing was wrong . It is an 08 but doesn't seem to be a battery issue . Any trouble issues along those lines ? Tia Scott

 

I'd get the obvious checked out, the battery. It's 4 years old. Have it load tested. Also have them check the alternator to make sure your in the 14-14.5 volt range.

Last resort, could also be a starter. But I'm betting it's the battery.

 

Make sure the interior light wasnt left on..rear hatch not closed all the way..door not fully closed, will leave a light on. In daylight you may never notice it.

 

make sure the cables are tight at the battery and also check to see if the cable is tight under the red cover next to the fuse box under the hood, ( that cable has been loose in a couple of cases).

 

The battery is EXACTLY enough for the car, not one bit better. It is ONLY there for starting the car, don't even expect headlights for 15 minutes. Mine is starting to need a jump after listening to the radio on ACC for 15 minutes with the auto headlights turned off.

 

After seeing the battery ....Yeah looks a wee bit on the small side .I'll be getting a replacement soon .

Makes sense if the door was ajar those super bright interior lights would drag it down in a hurry !

Just wasn't sure if there was an electrical gremlin / gizzy that might be part of the beast .

All GM vehicles have had "Run Down Protection" since 1995. This prevents anything left on to run down the battery. So with the ignition off, and doors left open, or interior light left on with the doors closed, the interior lights will automatically turn off after 10 minutes.
With that said. You could have a couple issues going on. Failing battery, starter going bad, open relay, bad battery connection, failing alternator.
I would start with the obvious. Have the battery load tested in the car. This test can also tell if the alternator is putting out the correct power needed to do it's job. Check all battery cable connections for corrosion or loose connections, both at the battery, and in the engine compartment.

 

Rundown protection doesnt always work.....a few here where caught on that one...een me..

 

I vote battery issue, mine died at 4 years old , dead cell would not hold a charge. $124.00 replacement from AAA at side of the road , not a bad deal as that included testing of the charge system and remove replace battery and disposal of old battery.

 

starter selenoid: if the battery has voltage, I would check this before the starter itself
