Dome light problem

Anyone know exactly what they change when your dome light doesn't work with the rear hatch open? Mine never worked, the dealer that my car and the rental car got wrecked at fixed it but needed to order some part to permantently fix it, and now it's stopped working again. I've never had the part put in because I won't take my car back after the all the trouble and the service lady never could explain what it was.

I wonder if it's something I can do myself or should I just not worry about it. It's not that big of a deal if it doesn't work and I am over taking my car to these terrible dealers in town. Thanks.

Is the dome light switch in the correct postion or perhaps is a bit loose and not making proper contact?

sounds like there is a problem in the swith on your hatch door....maybe its stuck in so the light never knows the door is getting opened?

Mine was one with the problems with the dome light. Mine was under warranty. The BCM(body control module) was bad and they replaced. Is yours still under warranty?

Thanks all. I guess I may just live with it not working. Yes it's still under warranty but I'm sick of dealing with the service depts.

Well I decided to take a risk and get the dome light fixed. Everyone was right, it was the BCM. It's replaced and working now and no damage to my car. Finally a good service trip!
