Here's what was on my work order, this was taken care of at the beginning of December. I should also add that the prior December (2006) my HHR had a problem where the rear hatch actuator gave out and it was replaced. I don't know when my dome light stopped working (if it worked at all) with the rear hatch open but I'm thinking that this previous repair may have had something to do with the light not working?????

My invioce says: "Install SOP lock to correct inter dome light. Cause: B5880 Rod and/or latch, tailgate lock - R&R or replace. Replace trunk lock with actuator."

 

I'll post this TSB for people who may need it.......also for historical reference.

Note that GM specifies to use update software AND to update the Tech2 equipment. Maybe some Dealers have not !!

 

Well good news on this problem. I just got the car back from the dealer. The BCM was bad and they had to replace it. They tried to update the BCM according to the TCM mentioned earlier by Snoopy and that did not work. They finally changed it and now the interior lights work as they are supposed to. Thank you for your suggestions, John

 

Wonder how much the BCM is out of warranty.
