Preventative maintenance is rustproofing, sprayed inside the holes at the bottom of the doors, or even better take off the interior trim and get a better coating in there. Ive seen this on HHRs only a year old, mine started after 2. Mine needs repainting every year or so now since the first "repair" as once the factory paint is taken off, it will rust even faster. So the key is to start rustproofing before it becomes visible.

I can see your point of view, Musicguy. I would think there is a warranty on the workmanship of this so that was the avenue I was going down.

Please, keep me in the loop about this.

I will go back to them and see what they think. They were very good about trying to help, they did sort of say in a subtle way that it's rust and it will be back, we just don't know when. I'm wondering if anyone here had a fix that lasted? ...and Michelle, thanks for the interest and thoughts about this.

My new to me 07 is rusting there too. It has 87k on it, and under 6 years, so I am hoping it is covered under the rust through warranty.
