Door lock actuator

My rear passenger door lock is no longer working reliably. At first it wouldn't unlock properly but now it won't even lock reliably. I am pretty sure it is not binding and just needs a new actuator. Is there anywhere to go for the part other than the dealer? Does anyone have the part number handy? Thanks.

Before you condemn the actuator, check and make sure the lock knob isn't binding on the inner door panel. There have been problems with this in the past where the hole is just a smidge too small and it causes binding enough to create the symptoms you're describing.

@pitbull76, you can check to see if this is available on the GM Parts Direct site. Unfortunately, I am unable to provide part numbers. I apologize for this inconvenience.

Check the plug in your door jam.

My back door locks stopped working 3 years ago now. Then 6 months ago they started working then quit again. I need to check my plugs also one of these days. My driver door is acting up now.

The driver door is by it's self, the passenger door and the 2 rear doors are on the same circuit out of the Body Control Module.

PS don't buy actuators till you check connections first.

WD40 might help if you can get the actuator out and give it a good lubing. I just helped my neighbor get his door lock actuator on his dodge truck working reliably again with the good old wd40.

disassembly / assembly is sometimes useful
the possibility of weakening (or violation of settings) joints due to vibration.
