Door locks

Door locks
The back door on the drivers side doesn"t unlock periodically and it doesn't matter if your unlocking it with the remote or the switch. Does anyone know what the problem is and how difficult it is to get the door panel off to access this problem?

Here's a quick video tutorial on removing the interior door panel, there was an issue with the lock knobs binding in the holes, so check that first before you tear into things too far.

Mine does exactly the same thing. If I hit the button 3 times it pops either to lock of unlock. In my case there is no binding on the plunger hole, and I am not that interested in pulling the panel off.

In your case Don, since you've already checked the knob for binding, its probably the solenoid pooping out or needing adjustment/lubrication. If you're OK living with it, you might as well let sleeping dogs lie as they say.

I did get some temporary relief by rapidly lock/unlock the plunger 20 or 30 times. Either that helped or it started working for a while.

I like your attitude Don, how many people would throw an absolute fit over this and rant and rave, but you've accepted it as one of those endearing quirks any vehicle has.
Sometimes I wish folks could just develop some patience and think things out, attitude in life is everything, and I like yours.

Don and I have the same problem, except I sometimes have to use the FOB unlock button up to four times. Mine is the Passenger door. It is definitely worse in cold weather. In the Summer I rarely need three activations of the buttons.

I have that problem with the driver door. The first day I had the car, I had it get stuck at the same time a defective battery died. It took a little while of jiggling the lock to get it to move, and then a battery booster to start the car so I could get at the battery. I'm just going to deal with it until I decide that it irritates me to much. (won't be long now) Then I will pursue slightly enlarging the knob hole. Usually takes two or three pushes on the remote before it grudgingly moves to unlock. I always lock it by hand to be safe.

Mine is irritating in that the plunger does move, just not far enough. And after it goes to the apparently open position only the fob double click will do the trick, I cannot manually pull the plunger up any more.
