Yeah........ Mine does that. Does yours seem to sit much lower than the passenger side?

Mine did that as well. I have since put a tiny strip of adhesive foam under that spot so when the wipe arm is flipped up, it grabs the bit of foam and keeps it between the paint and wiper arm.

Can't you just turn the wiper arm up a spline on the shaft?

turning up 1 spline would probably park the wiper too high on the windshield

Wiper chipping paint

My '09 does the same thing. I took it to the dealer and was told to put some padding under that section of the hood. I asked him about moving the arm up a notch and he said it would sit too high.

If you look real close on the windshield, you can find 2 little bullseyes down near the cowl. Those are registration markers for the ends of the wipers in park position. You do have to look real hard, but once you see them you thump your forehead with your right palm a sharp one. And, that is probably why the "stock" wipers are the flexible beam type, that have a rubber tip, not the old fashioned type (whatever that's called)?

Those bullseyes are a good indicator to check when buying a used HHR. If the mechanic dosnt know about them and they just slap the wiper arms on missing the mark.
They may have replaced the windshield or it has had front end damage. :)
