ECS issue
Well today on my 2011 with 4400 miles the ESC light came on stating "ESC is Active", the car lost power and made a very strange buzzing noise. It did this several times as I tried to accelerate. I finally pulled over and shut it off, waited a minute started it back up and it ran fine the rest of the day. 4400 miles, come on Chevy what's up with that???

My bad this should have read ESC (Electronic Stability Control) issues. Anyway I put over 150 miles on her today without issue so hopefully it was a glitch that will be gone forever, we will see.

Also, I'm rather embarrassed to say, after reading the owners manual the system appears to have been working as designed. I just can't figure what I did to make it feel as if I was not moving in my intended direction. Go figure. Thanks and sorry.

You should take it in, explain what happened and see if there's any codes, you are still under warranty and this will get it on record that there was an issue. (even if they don't find anything and the car seems okay) Just in case something comes up in the future, you want it on record that there was a complaint.

Yes, I'm sure you are right. I can hear the service department already complaining about my non GM wheels and leveling springs, but like you said it's better to get it on record. In reality both those items could be the issue, however I put a lot of miles on both and never had an issue. Thanks

For what it's worth department, I have an '09 HHR LT, 2.2L vehicle. At about 16K miles the Sevrvice ESC message appeared and the ESC light stayed on. I had to pull over and turn off the engine to reset the computer(?). Like you, it stayed off for quite awhile. More recently, the whole senario started over but more frequently until the other day it started coming on after reset in just a couple of miles. I brought it into the dealer and they checked it out. When I left, thinking it was taken care of, the light came on again about half way to the house. As I was pulling over to do a reset, the right front wheel felt like it was locking up. I got it reset and headed for the dealer. Shortly down the road the light came on again. I left it with the dealer. Supposedly they did their thing after keeping the vehicle overnight. After picking it up the next morning, I got about half way home only to have the whole thing start over. Had to do two resets before getting home. The vehicle is headed for the dealer on Monday. I wonder if others have had similar experiences with their ESC light staying on? BTW, service mgr showed me the tech document which seemed to indicate that when the light goes on, the ESC trys to compensate as it thinks a wheel is slipping. Apparently, this occurs at times after a realignment.
