Electrical Mayhem

Wondering if anyone can help with a sporadic electrical issue on my '07 2.0 LT.
I filled the tank up last week, and about 2 miles later while driving down the interstate, all of my gauges started bouncing back and forth and the DIC started flashing messages.(Just the program stuff) The engine never skipped a beat and about a mile later, it stopped. However the Security light was still on. Not Flashing. Just on.
I brought it straight home fearing that the car was not recognizing the key which was a cpl. months old, and not a OEM brand and I thought that it may not restart the car. Once I got home I shut it off, and it fired right back up with no light on.
This now has happened 4 more times. Twice on the Hwy. And twice on surface roads. It always restarts fine with no light afterwards. And while driving on surface roads each time it shifts up, it does so with a HARD upshift.
I no longer fear of the computer not allowing a restart, however do not want to drive this while it is going spastic on me.
Anybody else see this issue or have any ideas where I may look for a short?

Have the battery load-tested at a local auto-parts store - others have had similar issues with a battery starting to fail. If the Check Engine Light is on, also have them download the error codes, and post them here.

Also check the connections at the battery and the under hood fuse box for solid connections.

X2 welcome to the site. on the under hood fuse box make sure all the fuses are tight by pushing on them. They have been know to work loose over time.

Agree with the above posts.

To add. The hard shifting is an indication of a CEL code. You need to have the codes pulled to see what's triggering it.

And, just to let you know. Your engine size is not a 2.0 . It's either a 2.2 or a 2.4 .

Thanks for all the pointer Guys. I have the chance to check this out today and will do so thoroughly. I have drove it another 300 miles this week and not one hiccup. I am leaning towards a loose fuse or a wire rubbing somewhere and has chafed. We shall see. I also wonder about the computer part of it which makes a change in the shifting program whenever it occurs.
And youre right FiremanGeorge. She is a TwoTwo and for some reason it seems as though my fingers were typing faster than my brain...AGAIN!

While you are checking all the fuses and connections and ground wires , disconnect the battery negative connection at the battery for a few minutes to reset the BCM. My 2007 2.2 auto went nuts like this the few days before the battery died.
on that occasion there where no loose connections fuses relays or other wise just a dead cell in the battery, a new one cured the issues!
