Eng PWR Reduced for the 3rd time
Hey everyone. I have been reading about other peoples issue with this problem. Our's has been in 3 times now. Even right now it is in the shop. Been there for a week now. Here is a quick summary:
First time: Repaired a smashed wire. mileage was around 1400.
Second time: Replaced the ECM, and throttle body. Mileage 1600.
Third time: They have no clue. Said that they had to get some special tool. Service guy was kinda clueless as to what it was. He made it sound like a probe. Mileage is almost 3K, I think.
I have read up on the Texas Lemon Laws. The law basically states that they 4 times to fix it. Other reasons would be if it has been in for a total of 30 days, or if it is a safety issue then they only have two times to correct it.
Could this be a considered a saftey issue? Twice it has died on me at the same inter-section, right in the middle of the road. Kind of scarry when the cross traffic speed limit is 55mph.
Any one have any suggestions? How does the buy back work? Do I need to get a lawyer?
In the meantime we have been in rental. Black on Black Pontiac GranPrix. Really starting to like this car. May even have to buy one.
Thanks for the help.

I've had the same issue before... And yes, I would consider it a safety issue. It happened to me when once when I was leaving my sister's house, and I had to cross the busiest road here to get to my house, and it did that right in the middle of the road. It wouldn't let me accelerate quickly at all, and I narrowly missed a t-boning from about 50 cars
The problem ended up being a loose ground wire, but I don't know where it was located in the car. Good luck with your problem
