Noticed Saturday coming home when I cut off my A/C bout 1/2 mile from home the engine fan kept running.

I tested this yesterday & it will be off on start up, but once I activate the A/C, in a few seconds the fan will start, as it should. But is has begun not shutting off when I shut off the A/C..

Relay going bad or ?

 

Check the temp, bet it is not below 182F.

 

Don- You're right. With A/C Off, the temp is about 185, but it used to climb as I neared home to 195 or so, & I could feel the outside air warmth.

 

The fan doesn't turn off until ~180F

 

OK, but I started it today, turned the A/C on & fan activated, turned off the A/C & fan kept running, & temp was just above 130F

 

Itll run for a while after cutting AC off. Ive used AC during highway stretches of my commute, turn it off and put the windows down when i get into town and by the time I pull into the garage the fan is off as well, all the whuile the car never dips below 187 degrees

 

So, in other words, its normal.

 

The question is. What is the turn on, turn off threshold of the fan using AC ?

 

 

After the AC is turned off the fan should stay on until the coolant temp gets down to 180F. I don't know what would make it run at 130F, unless there is a time delay built in.
