Welcome to the site. Not touchy but can be a pita. It's just doing it's job as it's programmed to do. Find out what code it set. Fix and reset the CEL and you should be back to normal.

As stated above, once the fault that caused/is causing the CEL has been repaired, the remote will again function as designed.
If you need help in determining the cause of the CEL, have your codes pulled and post 'em up here, we'll put our heads together and try to point you in the proper direction for a quick repair.

If you have OnStar, in your car call onstar and ask for an on demand diagnostic test, when they're done with the test ask for the code.....did it today...I had a P0013 bad exhaust acuator solenoid....good luck in your search,,,also it seems to be an easy repair if you can do it yourself...
