This morning when I left for work everything was clear when I started the car up to come home the check engine light came. Only thing I know is that the remote start doesn't work. I have not brought it to my guy yet. Any ideas? Or could it be a million different things.

 

the car doesn't care what code it throws, the minute that engine light comes on it kills the ability to remote start, opening the hood after remote start also kills the engine if you have not stuck the key in.

Quickest way to find out what code has been thrown is any major parts store, they will usually lend you a code reader to find out which code has been logged, and if it isn't major you can clear the code and turn the engine light off.

 

I checked the gas cap and it seemed to loose so I tightened doe the code have to be cleared in order for the check engine light to go off or does it automatically go off?

 

It will go away after a while...but if you pull the negative battery cable(in the back of car) it will reset after 60 seconds or so
