Engine temp under load
#12
Welcome.
Yeah, if it was me I'd get it flushed and refilled with Dexcool as soon as convenient. The stuff they added, if not compatible, can cause problems (jells up, etc.) - keep an eye on the temp gauge in the meanwhile.
If you are till getting the temperature readout, that may indicate that there is an air bubble in the system, or not enough was added last time. But if the DIC readout is in the normal range you should be ok for short drives. Check the level in the plastic tank under the hood - the full mark is really hard to see, but is only about 3" or so from the bottom of the tank. Your neighbour may not have added enough to refill the low level in the radiator. Let us know how it checks out.

Flush the recovery tank and hose when you flush the system, also flush the heater core and change the thermostat.
Please after the amount of times we've seen it here use Dexcool only and the correct GM AC Delco 180 degree thermostat.

You are welcome! I've seen a 2.2 litre somebody put a cheap thermostat and green antifreeze!
New head , head gasket , head bolts, timing chain set , water pump ( while I was in there and a clogged heater core! The owner now comes to me every six months for oil filter and a complete check over.
That was the HHR that talked me into buying Old Blue!
