If you are talking about the small hose from the top of the valve cover to the intake manifold.

That is the PCV hose, it should have clamps on both ends. I recently found out that the clamp makes a huge difference. Vacuum leak and oil consumption both are affected, you might even get a CEL code telling you the cat or O2 sensors are bad (P0171, P0420 etc.).

If you are burning oil, "High Mileage" blend may be a bad idea. They usually have extra zinc in them, zinc in the catalyst is a very bad thing.

It isn't that, I wish I knew the technical term for it. Its the "hose" that comes out of the top of the engine up through the housing for the air filter and on the end is the filler cap. It seems to be leaking from where that hose goes into the valve cover.

Confusion, because in the 1st post you said from the block. The second post said valve cover.

Apologies. I meant valve cover.

Check with your GM dealer for a replacement gasket for the valve cover/OIL FILLER TUBE.

It unscrews just like the cap. You could put the cap in it's place. There is a rubber gasket at the base of it, you should be able to get a new one from your friendly local GM dealer Parts Department.

I am assUmeing that you are talking about raw oil leaking out of that intersection.

That one can also cause vacuum leakage and ensuing problems.

Since our '07 got to about 70,000 miles I've noted increased oil use. It's now just over 100,000 miles and oil use is one qt. for every 500-1000 miles.

The engine has no external leaks.

As anyone here had trouble with valve guide wear and/or valve stem seal wear on the two-four?

Yes.

But first rule out the easy cheap things. oil cap seal,PCV system,EVAP system & etc. Also you could give Sea Foam a try to loosen up the piston rings. After or all that start with the compression and leakdown testing.
