My '08 HHR 2.0L doesn't make much ticking during cool down.
My son's '09 Cobalt 2.2L sounds like a Latin band during cool down.

It's like mirrors, you get used to it ..

I sure would never Pay $425 to be be rid of my stainless exhaust..

I was told it's the Cat cooling down. I hear many cars doing it all the time when I walk through parking lots. I rate it as a non-issue...
