Extended Warranty?

I am about to take a job that's about 50 miles away each way. Anyone with high commute miles have extended warranty?

Yes I have it and I have 24000 on my HHR I travel alot on weekends. I got mine from this site www.gmoutlet.com it was $800.00 dollars cheaper then the dealers in Tampa would sell it for and it is a GM product plus mine goes to 108,000 miles.

rdd, do you also get your choice of shops for repair work, other than the dealer?

With the new (for 2007's) GM warranty, extended warranty would be a bit of a waste wouldn't it? I'm sure it would cover a few things that the GM 5 yr warranty does not..but nothing of major expense, import. For 2006 it would be a different story. I suppose if you are a high mile driver it is worth considering..but then again at $800 at the cheapest, if you can find it for that price...you'd really have to have some big time repair. And read the fine print on that extended warranty you buy, it is amazing sometimes what they do NOT cover. My vote, I would never buy one..and certainly not for an 07 which basically has one not anyway...but thats my opinion..I'm sure as in everything in life, others will differ.

You may want to look into this. Our Van had front end work, tie rods replaced at firestone and we submitted the repair to GMPP and they reimbursed us for the repair.

I had the extened warranty on my Suburban and it could be taken to a non GM repair shop. The shop had to call the 800 number and get authorization then I would have to pay and then get a check back from GM. Check to see if your shop takes extended warranties.

I have a 2006 barely a year old and 30,000km on it (thats 18000 miles), i purchased the 170,000km optional extended warranty. main purpose was so that later on ,if i decide to buy out the lease, I can also purchase additional GM warranty , i believe it goies upto 270,000km coverage so if you have the money to spend spend it now - the savings later are worth it
