Friends with this issue. It is not the radio. I have completely torn down my radio and tested the board. No Issues.

Then I replaced the Radio with a new Head unit and proper Radio wiring installation with new chime box. Still the exact same issue.

Recently I started customizing my interior and found out it is a wiring issue from gm. Jiggling the wires behind the radio and close to the passenger door makes the pasenger speaker come on and off.

SO this is a big issue in my opinion. Considering the door wiring goes to a plug and not just through a rubber hose like most cars.

I will post updates on my finds with this poor radio wiring issue with my HHR.

so whats the result on your finding? mine sounds like its in non-stereo mode?? the worst sounding radio ever. btw i have new pioneer speakers and that did not help with the sound quality.
