fan control switch

Has anyone else had their switch keep breaking? Every year mine craps out on me. Right now the fan only goes on when the knob is turned to the 'off' position. Ony have one speed as the fan doesn't even turn on in any of the other positions which are supposed to control the speed. Could it be the resistor plate or do I need to change the entire switch panel again?

A bad resister in most cases will not let the blower work at lower speeds. When switch to high speed the resister is by passed and a full 12 volts is sent to the blower motor.

Before you replace the hvac control try resetting it by disconnecting the battery for a few min.

The hvac control is a computer module that can get confused and lock up

Thanks for the replies. I hate disconnecting the battery cause then I have to reset all the radio settings. Is there a fuse I could pull instead?

The only setting I have had reset is the clock, unless it is disconnected overnight.

You can unplug the hvac from the back of the unit

At the switch. The switch is a module of its self.

Well, I tried disconnecting it for 30 minutes but it still is not working. I am wondering if perhaps the switches I got from Rock Auto are not the same quality as the GM replacement.
