My understanding is for major emissions components, EPA requires a 80,000 or 8 year warranty. As the flex pipe is part of the Converter, it stands to reason this is to be covered by law.
However our local dealership is denying to cover it under the emissions warranty claiming that they will only warranty it if I have a Catalyst System Efficiency code which would be PO420. They are claiming GM warranty won't cover it without the efficiency code.
This is the second time they have denied a valid warranty claim on this vehicle. I am beyond pissed off with these people.
Anyone from a GM dealership here that can give me any light on the matter?
Hello mstinso,

I'm sorry to hear that you are experiencing some issues with your HHR. If you would like me to locate another dealership in your area, I would be happy to do so. Please PM me your VIN, current mileage, contact information and preferred dealership so I can better assist you!

If you are within the 8/80 federal emissions warrantee, and there is a problem with the catalytic converter, there should be no question of coverage. My catalytic converter was rattling, no codes, but both it and the flex pipe were replaced at the local Chevy dealer under warrantee.

843de Thank you for the contact info.
Laco, that what I would have figured too, that it was a non-issue. Exspecially when other people have had no problems getting their cars fixed. Heck, if I did that crap to somone when I was a mechnic I would problably have lost my licsence, fined, and lost my job. Nor would I have been able to live with myself.
