Floppy visor

Update on my fix in post #21. Visor has not flopped down once and is easy to pull down to block the sun. Total cost was under $1 (actually had the screws, washers and nuts on hand) and took about 20 minutes to do.

Just bought a 2011 HHR with floppy visor. Unless I missed something with the other posts, my fix was a small strip of duct tape wrapped around the rod-portion of the visor where the clip holds on. Seems to be working but I'll go drive on some Michigan pothole roads to double check... :)

If you're still around would you mind posting a pic?

Could just read post #12 and post #21, they seem pretty lucid to me.

My binder clip solution worked for a long time. My first try was wrapping tape around the rod, that lasted a while. You just need to add friction to the joint.

There's a guy on YouTube who used a zip tie to fix his floppy sun visor. Basically instead of using tape, he used a zip tie jammed into the slot. I tried tape (didn't work) and was about to try the screw method but I gave the zip tie fix a try and it worked perfectly. You may have to cut off the head for the visor to slide back fully on the rod so it will clip back onto the retaining bracket but even without that, there's no flop at all.
