Well i am the king of procrastination, i let my 5 yr 100K factory warranty expire before getting anything done, I will now have to fix whatever it is myself,
Mine is an 07 has 96K miles now

Didn't see a request for help, so that was not my intent.

The plethora of help on the subjects of sway bar links and sway bar bushings is overwhelming on this forum.

Links cost less than $50 a pair, require 2 nuts to be removed and replaced per side. And removing the front wheels.

Bushings cost ~$20, budget 1 hour labor. 2 hours if you do it yourself laying under the car.

NO alignment is required or needed after either replacement. The only time an alignment is ever called for on an HHR is if the toe has been affected by something.

All likely causes are discussed in this thread already. Did you read it all? - yup, it's a long one for sure.

Write a list down of all the possible causes and then start to diagnose it, one item at a time.

I have just bought a 2006, for my wife. It's really nice leather, sunroof 170k miles and the dreaded clunk. I looked here to see if I could find a fix. The dealer said he changed the struts. We live in the country so lots of bumps. I will be checking on the different fixes here. Not sure if there is one after reading all this. The dealer said that every hhr had this problem. I mihht just tell my wife to turn up the radio.
