Thank you all for your replies. Maybe if I post a picture, courtesy of my dad who was an auto damage appraiser for over 40 years....

Yes, it snapped right off - clean break.

I am off work today and I saved all the pictures on my work PC. Will send a picture when I go back.

Here are a couple of threads that will help you post pic's, how-to's!

Post images and pic resize software if you need it.

I hope that helps! We just love pic's .... even if it's broke!

I posted a couple of pictures of my broken control arm but can only see one out in the "Other HHR" category. I will keep trying. Thanks!

The lower control arm appears fine in the middle picture. It's the steering knuckle that broke.

What has Chevrolet said about this ? It has been 2 weeks !
I have my theory but would love to hear what "Chevy" says about a cause.

The dealer says that it is my fault. I received a call from a supposed GM engineer who says it is my fault also. (I must have hit something) I have requested a copy of the "findings" and was told by the engineer that I can't get a copy because that is for internal use only. The car has been sitting for 2 MONTHS and I have not had any written communication from the dealer or from GM. I want to post a copy of the estimate here and will need to scan it in. It seems as if some of the repair work is for damage on the LEFT side of the car, the front and the rear (let's recap - it was the RIGHT front lower control arm)... and could really be caused by the not have running boards problem. I have asked people to post pictures of the damage when running boards are not installed but have not seen any yet. My frustration level has risen considerably. My rental car is a Toyota Sienna and I am reallly liking it!

I understand your frustration. But I'm confused now. What would the running boards have to do with any of this?
