frozen window

Yeah i actually tried something similiar, i have a can a spray graphite, comes out as a very fine powder, used to use a combo of that and silicon on my old ford. And the graphite didnt really help, also tried silicone once. Thats what leads me to believe that it is something internal. When the window refuses to roll down i can feel the door plastic bow toward the the interioir of the car.
The car is still under warranty for another 60k but id have to find a dealer that can actually troubleshoot, not just read from a manual.

My drivers window does the same thing when it gets cold it won't open moisture or not and it doesn't do it all of the time. I want to take it in when it's stuck but it doesn't stay stuck for very long. If it's not doing it when it goes in they probably won't get it fixed. Took mine in for oil change for the second time and they couldn't find anything wrong and for the 2nd time my recipt said it was a PT crusier?

I live in canada, so ALL the windows freeze in the winter. I turn the end dash vents on them and they thaw fairly fast(depending on outside temp). You get used to it after a while. I don't have the wind deflectors, but I don't think they make a difference in regards to the freezing problem. Maybe I'll try the silicone spray if enough of you say it works......robob

You know, I would talk with the SERVICE MANAGER or GENERAL MANAGER of that facility/dealership. Take the repair orders with you and indicate to that manager, you are concerned about the skill and quality of work that is "supposedly" conducted there.
If the technician is working at a GM dealership and lists the vehicle as a PT Cruiser, I would seriously question the credibility of the technician.
Of course, if the service order is ENTIRELY computer generated, the software is at fault....but should be corrected.
It is a GM dealership.....right?

GM silicone emulsion fluid.
GM silicone emulsion fluid-----this is another product often used in auto glass shops. It is just a small plastic bottle of a white creamy fluid that you can apply on rubber weatherstripping such as window channels , sunroof gaskets, trunk lid gaskets. The bottle has a small cotton dawber built into the inside of the lid and you smear this cream onto your rubber gaskets. It gets absorbed into the rubber , so you shouldnt see white cream after you are done. What it does is soak into the rubber gasket and keep the rubber from cracking and drying out. GET it from your GM parts dealer...should be about $5 to $7.00 and you can get many applications out of one bottle.

Maybe the HHR should only be sold in warm climates? I have the window problem all winter. A real PITA no drive thru coffee or mailboxes. Neve had this problem on my S-10 or PT Cruiser. GM could really do a better job all around on this model.
Too bad.

I'm having this problem now too. I have the in-channel vent visors. Both fronts bind like fantom says - doesn't have to be below freezing. I can feel the motor trying tom move the window but it is stuck. It moves a fraction of an inch then stops. I've tried moving it that little bit as a preload and turning the vents toward the window to try to unstick them with no-joy. Come out later and they are fine ... AAAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH.
